Cheap Tennis Rackets

One of the most commonly asked questions by new tennis players is what kind of tennis rackets they should buy. It is especially hard for kids learning tennis to do the right kind of online research and they do not usually have too many friends that know very much about tennis. They usually wind up buying cheap tennis rackets from discount stores that are not any good for their swing style. Today you will learn how to buy good tennis rackets at hopefully a good price that will be good for your particular swing style.

The first thing that should be ignored is how cool the design is, especially the color. For example, many girls who first start out playing tennis will buy their first racket because it is pink and matches their outfit. It is a good general rule upfront to stay away from pink tennis rackets and buying a racket just because it matches. There is really no cause for concern, most of the good tennis rackets for sale look cool anyway.

For most new players, or for those that want to improve their swing and have nice long strokes, you do not want to get one of those oversized tennis rackets for sale that are so popular. You really want a smaller racket. Oversized just means that the head is bigger. Often people think that bigger is better, but that is not true in tennis. An oversized racket requires more power to swing and gives you less control. Oversized rackets were designed for people with short swings that do not swing all the way through. If you want to improve your swing, however, oversized tennis rackets will not help you. To be sure you are getting a normal sized head, look on the side of the racket and it will tell you if it is oversized.

There are cheap tennis rackets for sale almost everywhere. Many people believe that sporting goods stores are a good place to buy rackets. This is not necessarily true, as it is not uncommon for them to advertise a racket for $70 but only to find out the racket you want costs $300 or more. The best places to buy cheap tennis rackets are at tennis pro shops and on internet stores. Realize though, that like buying a car, you will want to test it out before committing to the purchase. You should go to a tennis pro shop first since they will let you test the racket before you buy allowing you to find the best brand and model. If you find the tennis pro shop price a little too much for your budget, you can just go on internet store and search for a used racket using the same brand and model you found in the tennis pro shop.

One big mistake you can make when buying tennis rackets is to ignore the grip size. You do not want a grip size that is too big or too small. You need a grip size that is just right for you. You will find the grip size at the end of the racket. An average male will typically use a grip size around between 4 and 5. Rackets with grip sizes that are too big can hurt your wrist. Be sure to also purchase an overgrip for your racket, as they help you hold on to your racket better and only cost about a dollar. If you are new to tennis, it is recommended that you get a synthetic gut all around the inside the head of the racket because it is cheap and makes a good starting string. You should also make sure that you get a good vibration dampener which are cheap and available at most large discount stores.

When shopping for tennis rackets for sale, you really should not pay over $180 for a brand new one. Good used rackets on internet stores should go for around $70 or so. Used rackets on internet stores are often in a lot better shape than you think as they were often used only as demo rackets in a store.
