The most hyped match in this tournament between this pair has completed with Djokovic giving the winning smile. In the semi-final at Roland Garros, the Serbian smashed the third seeded Federer easily and called for a straight set victory in 6-4, 7-5, 6-3. This win has left him just one hand away from the most prestigious 'Novak Slam'- as he loves to call the Grand Slam in this name.
In the past 27 Grand Slams, World No. 1 Djokovic has remained unbeaten and in these matches, he has encountered two strongest personality of the tennis world and ruthlessly smashed them to earn the number one position. After winning this match against Federer, he has set up a match against Rafael Nadal in the French Open Final.
On the other side, Rafael Nadal advanced towards the final after defeating sixth seeded David Ferrer in the other match of the semi-final on the same day. He crushed down his fellow countryman in straight set 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 to book his place in the final against the Swiss. Ferrer is a terrible rival to face who has also been a deserving contender for this Grand Slam. This was his third major championship semi-final who is already the champion of two previous clay court tournaments. Last year, Nadal was outsmarted by him in the quarter final of Australian Open. So this time also, the match was quite challenging for both the men. However, this time Nadal literally upset his opponent to call for a straight set victory. Within one hour and 45 minutes, Nadal put an end to this match and progressed towards his 7th grand Slam in clay court.
Sunday will be another big day for tennis when two strongest players-the first and second placed maestros are encountering to play the French Open Final. This is the first time in tennis history that the same two men are meeting in the final for all the four successive Grand Slams. Moreover if Djokovic wins the championship title on this, then he will be only tennis star in 43 years of tennis history to win all the four major tournaments in a row. On the other hand, if the other finalist, Nadal wins the title, he will be the only man to achieve seven championship titles at Roland Garros. So, whoever be the triumphant in Sunday's match, he will create a record. About the Author
