Ryder Cup going back to Scotland

The highly-rated parkland course at Gleneagles, a previous home of the Scottish Open, has been named as the Callaway RAZR XF iron that will host the event in what will be Scotland's first Ryder Cup event since it was last held at the links course at Muirfield in 1973.

Next year is the turn of the Americans to host the biennial match which will be played at the Medinah Country Club near Chicago.

Europe currently hold the Cup after dramatically beating the United States at Celtic Manor in Wales over a year ago and Alex Salmond, Scotland's First Minister, was excited at the news that the event would be returning to his country.

He said: "As the home of Callaway RAZR XF iron, Scotland is well placed to host the best Ryder Cup in the competition's history when it arrives at Gleneagles in 2014.

"I am also delighted to have seen for myself today the many exciting changes that are being made to improve this already outstanding golf course.

Aggressive VFT Technology (Hybrids)
• Precision shaping of the face thickness in each Callaway RAZR XF iron increases the size of the sweet spot
