Mexican-Polish tandem, Santiago Gonzalez and Klaudia Jans-Ignacik smashed Natalie Grandin and Paul Hanley in the French Open quarter-final which smoothened their way to the semi-final. This was a very important match for them to reduce the gap between them and the much desired Grand Slam. From the beginning of the match, they maintained their dominance in a up and down way over the opponent to turn the match finally towards them.
Both of them are on their way for maiden championship title at Rolland Garros but so far they have given a superb partnership in the clay court. They are ready to face Leander Paes and Elena Vesnina in the semi-final on Wednesday.
Starting the match in a magnificent way, the winning side ended the first set in 6-4 score line but during the second set, Grandin and Hanley bounced back with spectacular strokes to finish the set in 6-3. The match finally ended in a roller-coaster way when the Mexican-Polish once more bounced back after losing the second set to put an end to the final set in 10-5. So the match turned to their side in 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.
From the other match on the same day, Indo-Russian junction, Leander Paes and Elena Vesnina thrashed down their opponent, Max Mirnyi and Liezel Huber. World No. 5, Paes-Vesnina took only 90 minutes to defeat their Belarusian-American pair. The loser started the match in a perfect way and maintained their dominance in the first set. They succeeded in cashing two break chances among the three but the miracle happened in the following set.
In court number two, the winner of day bounced back and cashed in both the opportunities among the four break chances. They leveled the match through a ten minute tie-breaker where the result was 10-5 for Paes-Vesnina. That was totally spectacular to see how the duo bounced back in the second set after losing the first by 4-6. It was a thrilling and breath-taking match to watch. The match ended in 4-6, 7-5, 10-5 giving a way for the Indo-Russian duo to face Santiago Gonzalez and Klaudia Jans-Ignacik in the semi-final.
Now Mexican-Polish duo, Santiago Gonzalez - Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Indo-Russian junction, Leander Paes -Elena Vesnina will encounter in the semi-final to get into the final for Grand Slam. Two maestro combos are in the semi-final to compete which will surely turn the match into a spectacular one. The winner of the semi-final will move up to the final to encounter the Indian pair, Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupati. About the Author
