RANGERS midfielder Juanma Ortiz has returned to Spain with a view to joining his former club Almeria on loan.
The Scottish champions have reached a verbal agreement with the Spaniards over a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Ortiz became Ally McCoist`s first signing as Rangers manager when he arrived at Ibrox in July on a three-year-deal.
The 29-year-old was recruited from Almeria for an undisclosed fee - reported to be around £500,000 - but has made just 13 appearances for the Light Blues.
A story on Rangers` official website confirmed: “A loan deal until the end of the season has been verbally agreed and Ortiz has gone back to Spain today.
“Rangers are awaiting the paperwork to come through from the Spanish side before the loan agreement is completed.”
