EX- CELTIC hero Paolo Di Canio has unsurprisingly been commanding a lot of attention since becoming Swindon Town manager, combining some fantastic results at the League Two club with typically eccentric behaviour.
Di Canio has been sent to the stand several times in his maiden season at the County Ground and has rubbed some fellow managers – not to mention a couple of his own players – up the wrong way.
His combustible post-match interviews are also becoming regular youtube gold. But, despite his fiery ways, one thing the Roman doesn’t seem to be lacking is loyalty.
When asked by Sky Sports yesterday if he could be tempted away from Swindon to join Leeds United, who sacked Simon Grayson this week, he said: “Absolutely not this year because I gave my word and my word, for me, is more important than a contract. Leeds is a fantastic club and every manager would consider going there but, at the moment, I don’t consider to move to a Premier League club because I gave my word to Swindon.”
