The History of White Water Canoeing at the Olympics
White water canoeing has had an interesting past in the Olympic programme as it has been taken out a few times and then reinstated as a sport. Canoeing has been in the Olympics since 1932 when a form of canoeing, the canoe sprint was introduced to the Olympic programme. The canoe sprint has 12 medalling events in the programme and includes a distances of 500m and 1000m, each of which are highly demanding and requires the utmost skill and endurance. Many of the canoeists were from sporting background originally and switched to the sport when they didn't make the grade. This extra enthusiasm and drive moved the sport forward to what it is today. There will be some changes in the London 2012 Olympic programme as the 500m event will be replaced by the shorter 200m race, this will be the first time this event will be featured in the games, as promises to be an exciting inclusion for the sport.
Other disciplines in canoeing then became apparent, one of the most popular, the canoe slalom made its debut in the 1972 Olympics, we then didn't see it again until the 1992 Barcelona games. This was where Great Britain won their first ever medal in the Canadian Singles Class winning, Gareth Marriott won a Silver medal and was the starting point for a huge breakthrough in interest and participation in White Water Rafting and Canoeing.
The first Great Britain Gold medal came at the 2008 Olympics when Tim Brabants became champion of the K1M event in Beijing. He then followed up this history breaking feat by then taking a Bronze Medal in the K1M 500m event, this was even more astounding as it was just 24 hours later. This put him down as the most successful Great Britain Canoeists in Olympic history.
Tims endeavours in 2008 has inspired a new generation of canoeists which are taking the sport to a new level in Great Britain. The UK now has some of the finest facilities in the world in which has helped the training and appeal for the next Olympics in London 2012. Many of these new facilities would not have been possible without the success of individuals and the Great Britain tem in the previous Olympics. The funding and interest in the sport demanded that UK facilities improved and came up to standards with the rest of the world so that Great Britain can train and grow to the next level, to be competing in major competitions in the future.

This year, four of the top five NFL teams on the Social Engagement Scoreboard also made it to the Conference Championship round so there's no question that performance on the field can have a huge impact on fan interaction. The Social Engagement Leaders of the NFL are:

Online platforms are the perfect outlets for channeling fan enthusiasm and it can confidently be said that: Winning = Engagement.
However, there are always exceptions. What's more, the team with this year's worst regular season record - the Carolina Panthers - managed to come in at number 14.
No doubt about it, having an active and loyal social media fan base can get a team far on the Track Social Engagement Leaderboard, even if they do make one too many turnovers on the field.
In terms of audience size, Track Social has previously released data on which teams dominate the Facebook Fan count, but the number of fans doesn't always speak to the quality of a team's interactions. Measuring social media engagement is about observing how online audiences respond to brand-initiated interaction. So when a team puts up a post on its Facebook wall, throws out a Tweet, or launches a new Facebook app, what's the response it gets back compared to the relative size of its online audience?
Pittsburgh, for instance, took 2nd in the number of Facebook Fans but drops to 11 on the Engagement Scoreboard. And Jacksonville - last place in Facebook Fans - earns a very respectable 13th place, by generating engagement partly with fan-centered posts like this: "What would you like to see different at EverBank Field to make your gameday experience better?"
As for the top performers, the Patriot's "Ask A Pat" video series inviting Fans to submit questions for a different team member each week can be noted. The answer gets filmed and posted to Facebook. But sometimes the basics work just as well:
"The most important player in this weekend's game will be _______ because ______."
With over 3,000 Likes and 4,000 comments, it can safely be said that classic old-school prognosticating is still one of the best parts of being a fan.
And that's really what social engagement is all about: encouraging and provoking the kind of dialogue, excitement, and, yes, controversy that makes being a diehard fan so much fun. What happens on the field is still the reason that fans get excited. But what happens online is one of the best ways to keep fans - and franchises - in the game, even when it's off-season.

1. Loosen Up - Most golfers grip the club too tightly, especially when going for a little more distance. Shake the tension out of your arms and hand, and just barely touch the grip. Practice this often, even at home without a ball. Train yourself to get looser when going for the big drive. Not tense and rigid like Happy!
2. Breathe Easy - Combining this with a softer grip pressure is a great way to start making smooth, powerful swings. Breathe deeply, down to your navel, allowing your shoulders to drop as you exhale.
3. Stretch it Out - It is scientifically proven that a mere 5 minutes of stretching per day will cause significant increases in clubhead speed. Make your routine cover the whole body - trunk, back, chest - even wrists! There are many more benefits to stretching besides hitting longer; a sense of peace and relaxation, lower blood pressure, less risk of injury. NOTE: Do your 5 minutes of stretching in the evening or after playing, not before teeing off, as this will lower your clubhead speed!
4. Make it Whoosh! - Performing repeated dry swings is a great way to stimulate the fast twitch fibers in the muscles. Do a set of 10 dry swings, attempting to make the whoosh louder and louder each time. Really whip your wrists around. Three sets every other day will give you a huge increase in clubhead speed in 30 days! You can do this in the backyard, and it takes only a minute or two.

The Ravens may have been a bit lucky to move on to the next round as they needed their defense to carry them to a 20-13 win at home over Houston, forcing four turnovers along the way. Safety Ed Reed managed to have six tackles, a pick and four passes defensed, and he had to be carried off at the end of the game because he sold his body out to knock down the Texans' final heave to the end zone.
LaDarius Webb had a pair of picks for the Ravens, who allowed Arian Foster to run for 132 yards and Andre Johnson had 111 receiving yards, but Baltimore made stops when they had to. The offense was just bad and Joe Flacco was 14-of-27 for 176 yards, although he did throw two touchdown passes. The line couldn't open any holes for the running game (87 yards on 31 attempts), and they couldn't protect Flacco, who was sacked five times and pressured many more. The offense is just bad and it almost cost them this game.
For injuries, Reed's Knee MRI returned with a negative remark so you can expect the future Hall of Famer to be in the lineup and the Ravens will need him at the back of the defense, playing center field against the vaunted Patriots offense. However, it wouldn't matter how well the defense perform because if Flacco and the offense don't improve, they might as well just stay at home. Getting Ray Rice going is essential to keep the opposition off-balance, but New England's secondary isn't that good, so they can be attacked.
Why the New England Patriots should be Wagered On (14-3 SU, 10-6-1 ATS)
The Patriots guaranteed that by the end of the first half there would be no NFL betting upsets as they rolled to a 35-10 halftime lead and cruised to a 45-10 romp of Denver at home. Tom Brady was 26-0f-34 for 363 yards and a pick, and his six touchdown passes tied an NFL record. Three of them went to tight end Rob Gronkowski, which was also a record, and Brady set a new mark with five touchdowns in the first half. New England also threw a wrinkle into their offense by putting tight end Aaron Hernandez in the backfield and he responded with 61 yards on five carries. Hernandez ran occasionally when he was at Florida (where he was a teammate of Denver quarterback Tim Tebow), and it just shows the versatility of this high-powered unit. The defense gave up 144 yards on the ground, but they did a better job of controlling Denver's read-option offense than their first meeting and once they got out to a big lead, the Broncos had to throw it and that played into New England's hands.
Hernandez had a possible head injury or concussion but the tests came back negative and he was able to pass early tests so you can see him in the lineup this week. The Patriots have now won nine in a row outright and only once have they scored less than 30 points (27 in a Week 16 come-from-behind win over Miami). And for all of the yards that the Patriots give up, they're 15th in the league in points allowed. The patchwork secondary has come together in recent weeks and they can also stop the run, thanks to stoppers like Vince Wilfork on the line and Jerod Mayo at linebacker. Combine all of that with Brady's solid focus and the Patriots are going to be hard to beat, especially at home.
How Will It Turn Out?
NFL betting odds favored the Patriots by 7.5 points at home, where they are 4-1 SU and 3-1 ATS in their last five meetings with the Ravens, with three games falling under the posted total. However, the only loss came in the playoffs two years ago, when the Ravens stomped the Patriots 33-14 at "The Razor" and they have enough veteran players that the crowd should be a major factor.
This could really go down to the play of the quarterbacks. Flacco will certainly need to play better on Sunday than he did back against with the Texans because we all know that the Patriots will put up points. New England needs to protect Brady from the Baltimore pass rush.

Therefore must say Mikhail Kukushkin (92) did an excellent job on his Round 3 match defeating Gael Monfils (14), which was expected to go further in the competition. Another who did great winning over a favorite was Bernard Tomic (38) in the game against Dolgopolov (13). Nonetheless, Tomic also saw the end of his journey through the Aussie Open on Sunday, when the Maestro crushed him 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.
So the first to meet now for the quarterfinals will be Roger Federer (3) and the Argentinean Juan Martin Del Potro, who currently holds the 11th position in the ranking. This could be an entertaining match, even though Fedex has all the stats supporting him and it is almost impossible for him to lose, Del Potro continues improving his game and won't make easy either -in fact I think we would see several successes coming up for the tall Latino this season. The second match on Tuesday will be between Rafa Nadal (2) and Tomas Berdych (7), the Czech reached quarterfinals last year as well but was beaten by Djokovic; for this season still looks improbable for him to go beyond this point, as he haven't been able to beat El Toro since 2006 and it's been 9 games already. From this leg the statistics indicate that we are going to have the best two favorites in semis, Nadal vs. Federer, facing each other for the ticket to the final. This is one of the most expected matches since the schedule was drawn; most of us have been waiting to see the show these two wonderful players have for us.
On the other leg we have Murray confronting the Japanese pride, Kei Nishikori (26) that just defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (6) on Round 4. This is Nishikori's third time in the Australian Open and is his first time in quarter finals; this 22 year-old is the most successful Japanese player of the open era. This will be the second time these two players meet, the first time was in the 2011 Shanghai Masters' semifinals and it seems that Murray keeps holding the winning card. The last two are the No. 1 Novak Djokovic, against Spain's second best, David Ferrer (5). They are going to play at the Rod Laver Arena on the 24th at 7.30pm in what could be a hard clash for both. The stats of their matches are actually quite even, since the first time they collide in court in 2004 the Djoker has won 6 times while Ferrer has succeeded in 5, including the last time at Barclays a month ago, when the Spaniard triumphed with a 6-3, 6-1. Therefore from Ferrer and Djokovic is very hard to say who has the best shot to win. Anyways these last 8 men standing in quarter finals will give us surely excellent samples of what professional tennis is.

As a coach plan fun events for your team outside of soccer. A meal at your local pizza parlor goes a long way with creating a bond with your players. Take them to your local high school or college soccer games when possible. These events cost very little or nothing and this allows your team to see what it is like to play on a upper level team. Who knows, this may give your players the desire to play soccer at a higher level.
Always end your practice with a cool down fun drill. Never let a player leave the field unhappy. If all of your players are not having fun, maybe you should review your coaching techniques. What a sad thought if a potential All State, or All American, or Professional soccer player quit at a young age because he was not having fun. Sure there is a lot of hard work in playing soccer, but to a youth, it all about having fun.

Boas has started his future with Chelsea very brightly but is lacking the flare and the thrill which teams fear when they confront each other. Boas is already starting to have problems with the contracts of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka who he has already told to the media that, Drogba and Anelka will not end their careers in Chelsea thus annoying so many fans.
I can say that all is repeating once again when Jose Mourinho was in charge with Chelsea. The owner is interfering in all sorts of matter with the club and he is not allowing the coach the freedom to work at his own will. That is what made Jose Mourinho quit.
Sacking Carlo Ancelotti was the biggest mistake the club ever made. It does not mean that, if Ancelotti was not successful in bringing silverware in his second year, the club fires him. That is not how coaches and clubs are made. Chelsea forgot that, Ancelotti made AC Milan win the UEFA Champions League trophy more than three times plus the Seria A title when he was in charge and was also voted one of the best managers in the world.
Wherever Ancelotti will go, he will always have a successful coaching career. The only question which is yet to be answered is that "Will Boas bring silverware to Stamford Bridge or will he be another failure like Felipe Scolari was?" Boas is surely very much inexperienced than Ancelotti. Let us see what the new young Chelsea coach can bring to the team so that when we watch or live football stream the match, we see what flare and thrill the mighty team has got.
